MD&A biography

Founded in 1996 by Alex de Ras and his friends Marco and Danny (hence MD&A), the group soon topped the hardcore charts with ‘Braindead’, making it all the way to Dutch national television with the accompanying video clip.

Live hardcore drumming 

After a hiatus of several years, Alex rebooted the name in 2012. Inspired by legends like araabMUZIK and Marc Acardipane, he introduced 100% live fingedrumming into the hardcore scene. Going viral in 2015, when he drummed a full hardcore liveset at Defqon.1 for the very first time in history, he ramped his carreer ultimate heights. MD&A played at all major events you can possibly think of: Thunderdome, Masters of Hardcore, Defqon.1, Decibel, Dominator, Q-Base, Ghosttown, Harmony of Hardcore, Oldschool Gangsters as well as many venues across Europe.

Fingerdrumming and DJ set combined

Being an experienced DJ since the very early nineties, MD&A can combine his fingerdrumming- and DJ skills in a single set, elevating his performance to a unique live experience, enjoyable for both ears and eyes, while blowing minds. High-energy early sounds guaranteed!

MD&A is available for 3 types of bookings:
- MD&A: a 60-90 minute DJ set
- MD&A live: a 60-90 minute DJ set combined with fingerdrumming, vocally supported by MC Axys
- MD&A 100% live: an exclusive 30 minute fully live drummed set, vocally supported by MC Axys

Retro hardcore productions

In the studio, MD&A is very active as well. In recent years, he released many high-quality tracks that have that retro early hardcore vibe to them, like Blow, Hardcore will never die, Face of Silver and The Bomb. Alex keeps them coming, as more tracks will be released on Rave Instinct records in the future.
